When appearing on stage, Agnetha Faltskog is always considered a prominent member of the ABBA group. She has blonde hair and a youthful, good-looking face that is easy to make an impression on.
However, Agnetha Faltskog, with her always cheerful and youthful appearance when appearing on stage, was actually always struggling with suffering when she was a member of the group ABBA.
Difficulties still exist in the ABBA group
Agnetha met her future husband – Bjorn Ulvaeus when she was just 19 years old. They ended a year later – in 1971. By then, she had a solo singing career and had a number 1 single on the Swedish music charts. They were married a year before ABBA formed.
All work started with two male members – Benny and Bjorn. The two men met guests and composed and performed together. They “mobilized” their girlfriends and wives to join in the performance, so the band ABBA was born.
In 1972, 4 members founded the group ABBA and won the Eurovision singing contest in 1974. Immediately, ABBA became famous, they are known for songs with catchy melodies. Up to now, ABBA is still a legendary group and is considered the top hit group in the international music industry in the 1970s and 1980s.
In fact, when her fame was at its peak, Agnetha Faltskog had to face many psychological difficulties. She was always afraid of trips, but the demands of her job forced Agnetha to accept trips while on tour. Not only that, some fans are too excited, but Agnetha often feels scared and insecure.
Having two young children, Agnetha and her husband are always busy with performing and recording schedules, even being away from home for long days on tour, which makes her even more miserable, because she feels sorry for her children.
In fact, Agnetha is not a person with a strong, stable mentality, she is often worried, quite mild, and easily depressed. Agnetha is not as open-minded and cheerful as other members of the group. Her English is also not good, so she often encounters difficulties in performing on forums abroad.
Although Agnetha and female singer Anni-Frid always try to maintain goodwill in the group’s common work, it cannot be denied that, when on stage there are only two female faces and two female vocalists, they will have competition and comparisons, so there are times when the two female singers are not really good friends.
Upset after the group ABBA disbanded
Behind the beautiful glory of their careers, behind the stage, the marriage relationships of the two couples in the group had to go through difficulties, leading to breakdown. Both couples ended in divorce, such as in 1980 and 1981, the band “held on” until 1983, when “no one went their way”, even without making an official statement.
ABBA broke up after two couples in the group divorced. Although the separation between Agnetha Faltskog and her husband – male singer and musician Bjorn Ulvaeus, was quite gentle, but working at the same time witnessed the change of personality and the disbandment of the band that had been together for nearly a decade. Agnetha experienced severe psychological depression.
After ABBA disbanded, Agnetha did not listen to any of the group’s songs again. Perhaps the years of living in great fame exhausted Agnetha’s stamina and at one point, she had to endure a series of “side effects”.
Later, when enough time had passed to calmly remember the past, Agnetha answered in an interview that during the last years of her activities with ABBA, when the couple’s marriage relationship had deteriorated, she was really in crisis and felt miserable during that period of “hard” activities.
During her marriage to Bjorn, Agnetha had two cheaters. Since the separation, Bjorn has quickly moved on in his love life, he has a new girlfriend and continues to be excited about his work and personal life, while Agnetha had to seek psychological counseling.
The song “The Winner Takes It All” was mainly composed by Bjorn while preparing for the divorce. Agnetha shared that she had to cheer herself up a lot to be able to sing this song, because it was her pain, written by… her ex-husband.
Agnetha sang that song with genuine emotions: “Tell me, did she kiss you like I used to kiss you?”…
When the marriage ended in trouble, both couples still tried to maintain joint performance activities, and they continued to have new songs that were well received. But then after a tour and returning to the studio in 1982, all four members realized that now that both couples were divorced, there was no fun in continuing to be an ABBA group performing together anymore…
